AirFryer Teriyaki Chicken Wings and Drumsticks
Share
Chicken wings and drumsticks are as Primal, paleo, keto, carnivore and even Whole30 as you can get—but that’s if you don’t deep fry them in refined oil or coat them in sugary sauces. Sure, baked salt-and-peppered chicken wings and drumsticks do the job, but that’s no fun.
We wanted to create a version of chicken wings that are reminiscent of the saucy, moist-on-the-inside, slightly-crisp-on-the-outside wings you can find at nearly any happy hour or sports bar. Baking wings can dry out the meat on the interior before the skin on the outside gets a chance to crisp up. And we tend to steer clear of deep-fried things (not just for health reasons, but also for cost and—ouch! Hot grease burns sting).
The AirFryer provides the perfect middle-ground solution: You get crispy skin on the outside without coating your kitchen in oil stains, and the meat inside stays moist and tender. Simply pop the wings and drumsticks in the AirFryer for 25 minutes, remove and toss with the sauce of your choice—we chose Primal Kitchen No Soy Teriyaki Sauce for these, but our Primal Kitchen BBQ Sauce would also be delish. AirFryer Teriyaki Chicken Wings and Drumsticks
Time: 30 minutes
Servings: 5 (2 wings per serving)
Ingredients
- 2 lbs. chicken wings and drumsticks
- Salt, to taste
- 2 stalks green onion, stems removed
- 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
- 1–2 cups Primal Kitchen No Soy Teriyaki Sauce*
- Primal Kitchen Avocado Oil Spray
*How much you use depends on how saucy you like your chicken.
Instructions
- Spray AirFryer basket with Primal Kitchen Avocado Oil Spray.
- Season chicken wings with salt.
- Airfry at 400ºF for 25 minutes.
- Meanwhile, chop 2 green onions finely.
- Place sesame seeds in a small frying pan on medium heat, and stir for a couple minutes until toasted.
- Take care not to burn the seeds—they can quickly go from light brown to burned in a few seconds.
- Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
- Once the wings are done, put them in the skillet and pour enough teriyaki sauce on top to coat.
- Toss wings around to get them fully covered. Keep tossing in the sauce until it all sticks to the wings.
- Add more sauce for an extra thick coat, if you'd like.
- Remove from skillet. Sprinkle with green onion and sesame seeds, and serve.
